Three-Phase Track and Accessories

Three-phase track is an aluminium track system carrying three separate circuits. Spotlights on the same run are wired to different circuits so that display, shelf and general lighting are switched or dimmed separately. With 32 × 36 mm surface and 56 mm flanged recessed tracks, inside/outside L, four-way T, X, long and flexible connectors, track adapters, nipples, suspension and mounting parts, it is the standard track system for shops, supermarkets, museums and large commercial spaces.

  • What Is a Track Spotlight and How to Choose One? Beam Angle, Track Type and Wattage

A track spotlight is an LED spotlight that can be slid along and aimed on an electrical track mounted on the ceiling. Four decisions are key: an adaptor compatible with the track (single- or three-phase), a beam angle suited to the task (12°–20° for a single product, 34° for shelves, 44°–60° for areas), enough power and luminous flux for the space, and CRI 90 or higher so that colours look right.

  • How to Light a Shop? Lighting Decisions That Affect Sales

Retail lighting is built in three layers: uniform general lighting of about 300 lux in the sales area, accent lighting that makes products 3–5 times brighter than their surroundings, and window lighting. To show product colours accurately, CRI 90 or higher is chosen, plus R9 > 50 for products with red tones.

  • Museum and Gallery Lighting: Showing the Work While Protecting It

The aim of museum and gallery lighting is to show the work in its true colour while limiting the damage light causes. About 50 lx for highly sensitive works such as paper, textiles and watercolours and about 150–200 lx for moderately sensitive works such as oil paintings are widely accepted limits (CIE 157); LED that emits no UV or heat, CRI 95 and above, 3000K and narrow-beam adjustable track spotlights are recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the circuit selected on three-phase track?

The circuit feeding each spotlight is selected on its track adapter, so spotlights on the same track are controlled by three separate switches or dimmers.

How is recessed three-phase track installed?

A slot is cut in the plasterboard ceiling; the track is screwed to the ceiling with recessed mounting clips fitted to its back, leaving the 56 mm flanges flush with the ceiling. Standard three-phase connectors are used at corners and joints.
