- Tracks are cut from stock lengths (1, 2, 3 m).
- This is a preliminary design; luminaires, drivers and suspension quantities are checked by our team when quoting.
How is it calculated?
- Tracks are planned from 1, 2 and 3 m stock lengths with as few joints as possible; straight joints use straight connectors.
- Every 90° turn gets an L corner with a flexible connector inside to carry power.
- Each run has one power feed; the driver is chosen as 50, 100, 200 or 300 W from the total luminaire power plus 20%.
- If the surface track is suspended, suspension kits are estimated at about one every 1.5 m per side.
Frequently asked questions
What is a magnetic track?
A magnetic track is a slim aluminium track running on 48 V DC. Luminaires hold on to it with magnets; they are fitted and removed without tools and slide along the track.
What is the difference between surface, spring-clip recessed and trimless track?
Surface track is mounted on the ceiling or suspended. Spring-clip recessed track is held by springs in a slot cut into finished plasterboard and leaves a slim 8 mm trim. Trimless track is installed before the plaster skim and leaves a frameless line in the ceiling.
How is the driver sized?
The power of the luminaires on a run is added up, 20% is added and the smallest driver covering that value is chosen. A run above 300 W is fed by more than one driver.
Is the design final?
No, it is a preliminary design. The bill of materials is checked by our team when quoting; mounting, power feed and suspension points are confirmed on site.
